Policy Committee

CODSIA's governing body is the Policy Committee which prescribes the overall policy of the Council and monitors its operations. The Policy Committee meets at least two times a year and consists of representatives from each member association. Generally, an association is represented on the Committee by a senior association staff officer and a senior industry executive from a member company.

Operating Committee

The Operating Committee is responsible for the operation of the Council. It is made up of representatives from each association and meets as often as necessary to conduct its business (usually 8 or more times a year). Each association has one vote on issues before the Committee.

Each Operating Committee member serves as a point of contact for the association he or she represents and is responsible for helping to ensure that suitable responses are obtained from the association on any proposed reports, positions, or recommendations under the sponsorship of the Council.

The Operating Committee assigns tasks in accordance with policies prescribed by the Policy Committee. It ensures that appropriate task groups are established on an ad hoc basis and monitors the performance of such groups.

It is guided by the following principles:

1. To minimize unproductive duplication of effort among member associations;
2. To ensure that member associations are fully apprised of matters directed to the Council by any agency of the federal government and that information and recommendations given to the federal government accurately reflect the views of the member associations;
3. To simplify the administrative burden of the federal government in conducting its contacts with industry;
4. To maximize the effectiveness of industry staffing with respect to industrial aspects of national procurement policies
